Siemens Healthineers Research at AIUM 2025

2025-06-30

At the 2025 , Siemens Healthineers showcased meaningful progress in ultrasound technology, reaffirming our commitment to improving diagnostic performance for clinicians and patients. Gabriela Torres, PhD and Arati Gurung, PhD and their co-authors presented research tackling some of the most pressing challenges in elastography, liver disease, musculoskeletal conditions, and breast cancer diagnostics.

Torres' work in elastography was a highlight of this year's conference. Her research is helping to advance non-invasive diagnostic capabilities, giving clinicians more reliable tools for accurate patient assessment. The positive response from the medical community underscores the dedication of Siemens Healthineers to meaningful innovation.

Our contributions at AIUM 2025 reflect our ongoing mission to transform healthcare through technology and collaboration. We're excited to continue building partnerships that drive progress in diagnostic imaging.

We caught up with Gabriela Torres, PhD, Staff Ultrasound Engineer at Siemens Healthineers, who AIUM recognized for her outstanding work in ultrasound elastography during the Great 8 Scientific Session. She shared her thoughts on this achievement, her inspirations, and advice for the next generation of researchers.

What does it mean to you to have your research featured at a major conference like AIUM 2025?

Gabriela Torres, PhD: It's a tremendous honor to have our research recognized by AIUM. This project represents years of teamwork, scientific collaboration, and engineering development. I'm proud of what we've accomplished together.

How does Siemens Healthineers support your research and professional growth?

Gabriela Torres, PhD: At Siemens Healthineers, we work closely with top research institutions worldwide. Collaborating with external researchers to co-develop algorithms and methods, confirm clinical impact, and bring those innovations into our products is incredibly inspiring.

What inspires you most about the mission of Siemens Healthineers to advance ultrasound technology?

Gabriela Torres, PhD: The most inspiring aspect of this project was working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. That collaboration helped us build a robust and clinically relevant solution.

As a woman in medical imaging research, what advice would you give to others looking to enter this field?

Gabriela Torres, PhD: Medical imaging research goes beyond engineering. The best solutions come from listening with empathy, understanding the most critical medical problems, and working hard to meet user needs. Make the experience as seamless as possible.
