|2025-07-21
  • Strengthening Value Partnership with Can Tho Stroke International Services to expand its hospital network in Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang.
  • Designation of S.I.S Can Tho as Siemens Healthineers Global Training Center in Vietnam.

Siemens Healthineers and Can Tho Stroke International Services (S.I.S Can Tho) continue to extend their Value Partnership by expanding the S.I.S hospital network across three key regions in Vietnam and establishing S.I.S Can Tho as a Siemens Healthineers Global Training Center. This broadens access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for stroke and cardiovascular patients, and creates a regional knowledge and training hub for physicians across Southeast Asia.

鈥淪.I.S Can Tho is an important partner for Siemens Healthineers. Our long-term collaboration has greatly expanded access to high-quality stroke and cardio care in Vietnam and the surrounding region,鈥 said Bernd Montag, Siemens Healthineers CEO. 鈥淲e look forward to continuing to work together to improve health outcomes with innovative technology and services, and through education in the S.I.S Can Tho Global Training Center, which is part of the Siemens Healthineers global training network.鈥

The agreement signed at Siemens Healthineers' headquarters in Germany marks an important milestone in the Value Partnership with S.I.S Can Tho to expand its hospital network in Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang 鈥 helping bridge geographical and critical-time gaps in stroke and cardiovascular care across the Mekong Delta, Central Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City.

鈥淭his is more than just a milestone in our expansion. It is a powerful reflection of S.I.S鈥檚 unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality stroke and cardiovascular care to communities nationwide,鈥 said Dr. Phan Trinh Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of S.I.S. 鈥With this development, patients in Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang will no longer have to travel hundreds of kilometers for access to advanced technologies or specialized medical interventions.

S.I.S Can Tho is already recognized as a center for advanced medical innovation, international collaboration, and specialized training, attracting leading international neuro and cardiovascular surgeons through programs hosted by the Stroke Intervention School, for example. The designation as a Siemens Healthineers Global Training Center will further strengthen S.I.S Can Tho as a regional hub for technology transfer and clinical knowledge exchange across Asian countries. It will offer physicians in Vietnam and the surrounding region advanced training programs in diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular and neuro interventions, and the application of medical technologies into clinical practice.

Nearly a decade ago, Siemens Healthineers was one of the first partners to collaborate with Dr. Tran Chi Cuong, Chairman and Founder of S.I.S Can Tho, to establish the first state-of-the-art stroke treatment center in Vietnam鈥檚 Mekong Delta 鈥 where patients previously had to travel hundreds of kilometers for timely emergency care. It later became Can Tho Stroke International Services General Hospital, specializing in stroke and cardiology, which now provides advanced care to more than 17 million people.1 Between 2019, when the hospital was launched, and 2024, the proportion of stroke patients treated within the critical golden hour increased significantly from 13 percent to 22 percent.2

In 2021, an eight-year Value Partnership was signed by the two parties to advance stroke care in Vietnam. This marked Siemens Healthineers鈥 first comprehensive stroke-focused collaboration in Southeast Asia, with S.I.S Can Tho serving as a Reference Center for Asia. The relationship was further strengthened in 2023 with a master research collaboration agreement, reaffirming S.I.S Can Tho鈥檚 role as a regional reference center.

We were not merely seeking a medical equipment supplier, but a partner who shares our vision and life-saving mission,鈥 said Dr. Cuong. 鈥From the very beginning, when S.I.S Can Tho was still just a dream, Siemens Healthineers placed their trust in us, stood by our side, and empowered us with advanced technologies and world-class expertise. What I value most about Siemens Healthineers is not only their technological excellence, but also their steadfast commitment to advancing healthcare in Vietnam through training, research, and workforce development. That is why we chose them as our long-term strategic partner, not only for today, but for the future ahead.鈥

During a nearly decade-long partnership, the two organizations have worked to continuously advance technical expertise and clinical knowledge in Vietnam, across the region, and around the world. Siemens Healthineers has offered consultancy services, supported hospital model development, provided medical technologies and solutions, and facilitated internationally accredited clinical training programs.

With state-of-the-art equipment from Siemens Healthineers, a team of highly experienced medical professionals who are frequently invited to speak at international conferences such as Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN), Stroke Winter School (Inselspital Bern), Asian Australasian Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (AAFITN) and a high volume of stroke and cardiovascular patients, S.I.S Can Tho provides an ideal environment for training the next generation of interventional neuroradiologists (INRs).
