The world鈥檚 resources are limited; our collective challenges are urgent. At Siemens Healthineers, we aim to advance a world where breakthroughs in healthcare create new possibilities with minimal impact on our planet. As a leading medtech company, we are positioned uniquely to solve healthcare challenges through our technologies and innovative solutions. 

Our sustainability strategy is built on three pillars. We commit to expanding patient impact by improving healthcare access, limiting our environmental impact, and engaging our diverse Healthineers to achieve this impact globally. We amplify the impact of these pillars through two enablers: Volunteering and Employee-led initiatives, and Global and Regional Partnerships.

Improving healthcare access for all

We are committed to tackling the greatest challenges in healthcare today: fighting the most threatening diseases, accelerating diagnoses and effective outcomes, increasing access to affordable healthcare, and addressing capacity and capability gaps in the healthcare workforce. Our focus for Healthcare Access is to pioneer breakthroughs that make healthcare accessible and affordable for patients everywhere. We also contribute to addressing the workforce skills gap by providing education and training to healthcare professionals, empowering them to deliver high-quality care even in remote settings.

Preserving our planet鈥檚 resources

We see environmental sustainability in healthcare as a major imperative today because human health is inextricably linked to the health of the planet. We take action toward the United Nations鈥 call to limit global warming to 1.5掳C and work together with our suppliers and customers to reduce our collective emissions along the value chain. By driving decarbonization, reducing consumption of material resources, and promoting circularity in our products and processes, we pave the way to net zero by 2050.

We commit to actively driving decarbonization and preserving resources across the value chain. We also promote reducing, reusing, and recycling primary materials, minimizing waste and rethinking our processes along the value chain together with our customers and suppliers.

Partners bring mutually complementary capabilities and work with us to address resource and infrastructural needs as we strengthen healthcare systems.

    Addressing challenges in healthcare access often requires partners for funding and provision of care. For instance, we partnered with City Cancer Challenge to support city-led cancer solutions to improve and sustain access to equitable, quality cancer care in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We also support UNICEF1, the United Nations Children鈥檚 Fund to improve access to diagnostics to strengthen health systems in Ghana and Cote d鈥橧voire.

    Unlocking the full potential of our employees to amplify our impact

    Our Healthineers Volunteering Program enables our 73,000+ Healthineers to contribute across our sustainability commitments鈥攊n improving healthcare access for all, preserving resources for the planet, and building diverse and inclusive communities. We also encourage employees to form communities within the organization and lead initiatives that have transformative potential and accelerate outcomes connected to our sustainability goals. These Employee Networks and Resource Groups (ERGs) create and hold important spaces where our people find belonging, build awareness, connect with development opportunities, and contribute to shared goals.
