Siemens Healthineers and Stryker announce partnership to advance robotic neurovascular interventions

Joint Press Release by Siemens Healthineers and Stryker
Published on September 17, 2025
  • First-of-its-kind collaboration focuses on developing a robotic system for a comprehensive range of neurovascular procedures
  • Combines neurovascular robotic and imaging expertise of Siemens Healthineers and neurovascular technologies expertise of Stryker
  • Aimed at timely access to treatment for stroke patients and higher precision in aneurysm treatment

Siemens Healthineers and Stryker today announced a strategic partnership in the field of neurovascular robotics. The collaboration aims to develop a unique robotic system capable of performing a comprehensive range of elective and emergency neurovascular procedures, including treatment for strokes and aneurysms. It brings together two industry leaders, Siemens Healthineers in robotics and image guided therapy, and Stryker in neurovascular technologies. The partnership incorporates multiple facets of development such as robotic system design, access device and implant integration, imaging for robotic navigation and procedural workflow optimization.

Today, many neurovascular procedures require physicians to simultaneously manage multiple systems and tools, which can add complexity and reduce efficiency. By bringing robotics, imaging, and therapeutic devices together in a single ecosystem, Stryker and Siemens Healthineers aim to enhance physician performance, improve procedural precision, and enable faster treatment. This will help improve patient outcomes in both complex hemorrhagic cases and time-sensitive ischemic strokes. The initial phase of the partnership will focus on co-developing the integrated ecosystem and validating its clinical value in collaboration with leading physicians.

鈥淣eurovascular diseases 鈥 primarily strokes and aneurysms 鈥 carry a massive global burden. Stroke is the second-leading cause of death and the third-leading cause of disability in adults globally,鈥 said Carsten Bertram, head of Advanced Therapies at Siemens Healthineers. 鈥淲e are excited to announce this partnership, especially with Stryker, a leading player in the field of neurovascular care. Together, we are uniquely positioned to create an ecosystem of image-guidance, robotics and devices. This meaningful innovation will enable physicians to deliver more precise and timely care to patients around the world.鈥

鈥淪tryker and Siemens Healthineers have the joint goal to advance neurovascular care through innovation,鈥 said Jim Marucci, president of Stryker鈥檚 Neurovascular division. 鈥淏y combining our deep expertise in stroke therapy devices with the leadership of Siemens Healthineers in robotics and imaging, we aim to simplify workflows, enhance precision, and accelerate care. Together, we are taking an important step toward transforming how neurovascular procedures are performed 鈥 and ultimately, working to improve outcomes for patients worldwide.鈥
